Having a hard time putting into words the experience that was the inaugural #DesignForDignity Conference last week. I have been a part of events, communities and movements in the past and Design for Dignity wove all three together, powerfully. Spending time exploring innovation at the intersection of health and social impact with people I respect so much - fearless leaders with big ideas and huge hearts, moved me deeply. We know people deserve better, and we are now even more inspired, networked, and committed to making better a reality. Keynotes, presentations and workshops explored important topics in #healthequity, #communityhealth, #housingsecurity, #aging, #medicaid, stimulating #innovation, and taking action NOW! And one workshop even leveraged experiential futures to give participants a chance to see what nursing may be like in the year 2074. I gave a keynote on Designing for Dignity which focused on the role ethics has in health experience design. Slides here: https://lnkd.in/gCMP4ipw )It was my first time experiencing "Open Space" where the attendees design the conference agenda, facilitating sessions where everyone has a voice. I was able to attend the "Human-Centered Leadership in a Business World" with Teresa Brazen, CPCC, ACC and a design leadership brainstorm with Jason Goodwin both of which were so helpful to me personally at this stage in my journey.Hearing these brilliant songwriters from Berklee College of Music perform their Songs for Social Change (including my daughter, Maya Cueva!) was a highlight of the conference for me and many others. Seeing statistics about medical bankruptcy and care affordability isn't quite the same as listening to a song about it. We all felt their words and they left an impact on our hearts, reminding us of how much more work there is to be done. Music here: https://lnkd.in/gUKXJP-SProducing a conference is a labor of love. Extremely grateful to have Chris McCarthy on the journey with me to create this conference. Creating Design for Dignity together brought a lot of joy to my world. Also grateful to all of the amazing speakers, sponsors, volunteers and partners that made this conference happen. If it weren't for your leap of faith, we wouldn't have had that beautiful experience - one that we hope to bring to you again in the future!
